Technician

The Environmental Biotechnology Center in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts is seeking Research Fellows to study the physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology of microorganisms.  Applicants must have a BS/BA in physical or biological sciences with 1-3 years of experience in microbiology or molecular biology preferred.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Positions are currently funded for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.  Review of applications will begin Dec 22, 2009 and will continue until the positions are filled.  Please send your resume and the names of three references to Search Committee Chair (R37075), Department of Microbiology, 203N Morrill IV North, 639 North Pleasant St., Amherst, MA 01003.

Bioelectronics-Biochemistry

POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS available to join research team studying the structure and function of electrically conductive protein filaments in Geobacter and other microorganisms (Nature 435:1098-1101; Nature Nanotechnology6: 573–579).  Minimum qualifications are a PhD in the biological or physical sciences with prior biochemical experience essential. Microbe-Electrode Interactions
